2012 was a great year and I hope you all enjoyed it. I had a some photos installed in the McCarren International Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada (Food Court area) and an interpretive night pollution display set up in the newly remodeled visitor center in Death Valley. I’ll be getting married and having my first child in 2013 so I know it will be another great year. Looking forward to seeing all the 2012’s best from Jim Goldstein’s yearly list! I hope your 2013 is as great as you make it!!

Cholla cactus garden illuminated by a spectacular desert sunrise in Joshua Tree National Park. The cholla cactus is famous for it’s dramatic way of catching backlight from the sun for hours after the sun has risen and hours before it sets as well. Don’t get too close or they may stick to you.
Wild yucca bloom in the Mojave Nature Preserve. It’s a beautiful place most photographers skip out on.

Wow, Steve…I would have expected nothing less, but you had a great year. My favorite might be that storm cloud above Arch Rock, but I’m also partial to the canyoneering images. š
We need to get together in 2013 and do some canyons together.
Cheers,
Greg

All very nice shots, Steve and great to see your successes. My fave I think is the storm above the Arch at JTNP, because it is a different take on this place with some great atmosphere. Congrats on your upcoming marriage and baby and more great success to you in 2013!

Fabulous collection Steve! I really like your Central Coast stuff (makes me feel lazy since I live right next to it!). I think my favorite is the lone cottonwood on the Virgin River. Love that composition and the colors. Can’t wait to see what 2013 brings from you. Such an inspiration.

What a fantastic year you had. They are all so wonderful..I hear you about the cholla cactus sticking to you..I stepped on one, and while trying to get it off my shoe, I backed into another one and had it stuck in my upper arm..I was still picking thorns out several months later!
